Job Overview
The Career Counsellor Academic Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding students toward academic and career success. This position is responsible for delivering career orientation programs, providing individualized counselling, and assisting students in selecting appropriate academic pathways that align with their aspirations. The role encompasses support for both the National and International Programs, ensuring students receive well-rounded guidance in university admissions, scholarship applications, and career development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. National Program:- Plan and deliver career orientation programs in alignment with the 2018 General Education Curriculum.
- Provide career counseling, administering assessments such as the Holland Test and interpreting results to guide students in career decisions.
- Support students in selecting a major, career path, university options, and suitable high school subject combinations.
- Offer guidance and counseling sessions for both students and their parents regarding future academic choices.
- Assist students in choosing career paths, majors, and subject combinations for IGCSE, AS, and A-Level programs.
- Research admission and scholarship criteria for global universities and recommend academic and extracurricular activities to strengthen student Portfolios.
- Identify and coordinate participation in international academic/skills-based competitions, particularly those valuable for university applications.
- Compile and disseminate information on international competitions, liaising with organizers to facilitate student participation and tracking competition outcomes.
- Support with Cambridge certification exams (Checkpoint, IGCSE, AS & A-Level, and Cambridge English exams) as a part-time Cambridge Exam Officer.
3. Personalized Student Support: - Research and provide guidance on post-secondary study options, including
- public universities, joint programs, and international institutions in Vietnam and
- abroad.
- Support students in selecting graduation exam subject combinations that align
- with their university and career goals.
- Assist in preparing university and scholarship application documents, including essays, recommendation letters, and required paperwork.
- Research various university admission pathways to optimize student acceptance rates and provide tailored recommendations.
- Guide students in personal development planning and long-term career orientation.
4. Additional Responsibilities: - Organize and coordinate career-related events such as: Career Days, Career Counseling Sessions, University Fairs…
- Maintain and manage alumni data, fostering connections between current students and graduates.
- Develop and support internship programs, work experience opportunities, and job placement initiatives for students.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Career Counselling, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in academic advising, career counseling, or university admissions guidance
- Strong understanding of both national and international education systems, including university admission requirements and standardized testing
- Familiarity with career assessment tools such as the Holland Test and ability to interpret results for student guidance
- Excellent research skills for gathering and analyzing information on universities, scholarships, and extracurricular opportunities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to counsel students and engage parents effectively
- Organizational and event planning experience for career fairs, counseling sessions, and university networking events
- Proficiency in English and Vietnamese
