Taking a step back in time, Primary students at Victoria School - Riverside embraced the simple, rustic way of life of past generations through a cultural exploration project. This initiative aimed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of traditional values via hands-on activities such as:
Students transformed into “young lords” and young mistresses in traditional attire.
Wearing traditional attire: The students delighted in dressing in the modest and familiar clothing of their grandparents’ era, experiencing the charm of traditional fashion firsthand.
Participating in folk games: Laughter echoed as they enjoyed games like jacks, skipping rope, or took part in a "mini market" featuring creative "vintage" items. Beyond the fun, these activities provided insights into the meaningful pastimes of earlier generations.
The students enjoyed playing folk games.
Capturing memories: Heartwarming moments were immortalised in photographs, preserving these treasured experiences for the students to look back on with fondness.
They experienced shopping and reading traditional printed newspapers.
This project offered an invaluable opportunity for students to reconnect with their roots, cherish the richness of traditional values, and nurture a deep sense of pride in their cultural heritage.
